time flies

Today I saw a bumper sticker that read "Obama 2012" Is it seriously time for another election? Didn't he JUST become president! It's crazy how time flies.

tears

Today I had the most lovely lunch with this senior Young Life girl, in my classroom. I met her for the first time when I took her to Wyld Life Camp when she was in the summer before her 8th grade year.

I remember speaking to her back then about how I really felt that she could have great influence on people for the Lord, and that there were great things ahead of her. I almost started crying reminding her of this today, because the same words still ring true. It's amazing when God speaks to people through you, especially the youth, as you watch them sprout up before you so quickly!

I also almost cried watching the Temple Grandon Movie with Claire Danes last night at my Mom's.... and earlier that day at the Cleveland Marathon, as a spectator... ladies, you can guess.

Halhigdon.com is a great resource for running plans.

Also, remember that running a mile and then walking for one minute after every mile is a great race strategy for novice runners.

Don’t forget that slow and steady will finish the race. Even if you are going so slow that you think someone speed walking might pass you, who cares? Your goal is to finish, not have the fastest time. You want to feel good about your self; pushing yourself too hard, especially at first, will cause you to become self defeated. Better to start off slow and catch up later.

Don’t forget that we are depending on the Lord for this victory. Pray before, after and during each run; We want to glorify him in all things, including and especially this. Ask God to give you His mindset toward this race. Look up all the bible verses you can on strength and endurance, and on race analogies. God has used running in my life to encourage me in my walk with the Lord. Half of being able to do this will have to do with your mindset, so let’s think with the mind of Christ with this! This is more than a race, this is a opportunity to depend on the Lord and glorify Him with your physical body and with unity of the Body of Christ in Cleveland and Arkansas!

I love reflecting on and encouraging others about running, so if you are interested check my blog for updates. Also, please post your own questions, concerns, or victories as we train as a team for this relay!
